Light snow in the morning with temps near 30

A cold front is sweeping across the region, which will bring a little light rain and snow to parts of eastern Kansas and Missouri. Temperatures this morning will start above freezing in many locations, but the cold north wind behind the front will push those temperatures down as well as helping generate some light snow across the region this morning. Highest accumulations –of one to two inches– will be in central Missouri later this morning, with a dusting to a few tenths of an inch of snow farther west; including the Kansas City area. This may making the morning, or early afternoon, drive a bit slick. Otherwise, expect it to remain cool and cloudy going into and through the weekend, with the sun returning late Sunday or Monday, which will help support afternoon highs next work week in the upper 30s and 40s. Here’s the 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today: A chance of snow showers, mainly before 9 a.m. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 30. North wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 30. Light and variable wind.
