Missouri Lawmakers Advance Bill to Exempt 100% Disabled Veterans from Property Taxes

Missouri State Rep. Ray Reed is leading a bipartisan effort to expand property tax exemptions for veterans with 100 percent service-connected disabilities. The bill aims to provide stability for veterans and their surviving spouses by exempting their homesteads from property taxes. Reed emphasized that the legislation is about dignity and allowing veterans to remain in their homes without fear of being taxed out. The bill has bipartisan support in the Senate as well, with Sen. Jill Carter signing on. If the bill passes the Legislature, it will go to voters for a final decision.
