ATCHISON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a woman for alleged identity theft crimes.
On February 4, police arrested 35-year-old Amber R. Mierkey of Atchison, according to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson. She was jailed on a District Court warrant on requested charges that include computer crimes, criminal use of a financial card and theft.
These charges are in connection to a case in May 2022 when information from a financial card was taken from a 31-year-old victim in St. Joseph and used to make five separate purchases at an Atchison retail store totaling $169.50. She met the requirement for bond and is no longer in custody, according to online jail records.
