Alabama Street, Route 752, is open as of 4 PM Monday, with stage 1 of the project to rework to junctions of Route U, 752, and 59 now complete.
Alabama/752 has been realigned with Highway 59/Lake Avenue, as well as adding right turn lanes onto and off of Alabama Street.
Highway 59 has been adjusted for upcoming work, the lanes narrowed and jogged to the east.
Stages 2 and 3 of the project are set to begin soon, though no exact date was given. An access road to businesses west of 59 is in planning, as well as the realignment of Route U onto 59. After that, crews are set to widen Highway 59 and realign Valley Street.
MoDOT’s traffic impact estimates are still pending for these next stages.
Work on the restructuring began last April.
