House sends crime bill to governor

The Missouri House approved a bill that would change the classifications and punishments for juvenile offenders, requiring more time served before parole eligibility. The bill allows older juveniles who commit crimes to be classified as adults and permits counties to impose a 1% sales tax for additional juvenile detention centers. Inmates would serve a higher percentage of their sentence before parole eligibility based on the severity of the crime. The bill passed in the House and will now move to the governor for approval.
