Starting next month, the city of St. Joseph will provide rabies vaccinations as well as microchipping for pets throughout the city at a reduced cost at several locations throughout the city.
Dogs and cats may be brought for vaccinations. Dogs must be on a leash, and cats should be in a carrier. Pets can receive rabies vaccinations, combination vaccinations and microchips at the clinics.
Rabies vaccinations are $5. Combination vaccines for dogs, which include distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and influenza, and for cats, which protect against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia, are $10 each and must be paid for in cash. Microchips cost $10. City licenses for pets also will be sold.
Following the clinics, animal services staff will enter owner, animal and vaccine details in DocuPet for each customer. Registration tags are valid for one year and cost $10 for spayed and neutered pets and $25 for unaltered animals.

Thursday, May 7th, 6 to 8 p.m., Church of the Nazarene, 2102 S. 22nd St
Tuesday, May 12th, 6 to 7:30 p.m., Skaith Elementary, 4701 Schoolside Lane
Thursday, May 14th, 6 to 8 p.m., Mark Twain Early Learning Center, 705 S. 31st St
