Trial date set for school board member lawsuit

A trial setting date has been scheduled in a lawsuit against St. Joseph School District Board of Education member Kim Miller. The trial setting is scheduled for May 5th, 2026, in the Buchanan County 5th Judicial Circuit Court. The lawsuit challenges Miller’s eligibility to continue serving on the board after allegedly violating the Missouri Constitution by voting to approve a personnel report that included her son. The lawsuit was filed by five individuals, including an SJSD teacher, community member, nonprofit organization creator, SJSD parent, and current board member.
