David Villanueva has been sworn in as the new police chief of Hiawatha Kansas, succeeding former Chief Mickey Gruber. Villanueva, who brings 31 years of law enforcement experience, previously served with the Salina Police Department. He thanked commissioners for the opportunity and expressed his commitment to making the community proud. In related news, Villanueva’s wife, Heather, has been hired as a fifth-grade English Language Arts teacher at Hiawatha Middle School.
